Closet AI

    Privacy Policy

    Effective date: 2026-06-01

Emmito (Pvt) Ltd built the Closet AI app as a commercial app. Closet AI lets you see how clothing looks on you by combining a photo of yourself with garment images using AI. Because the photos you provide are the most personal thing we handle, this policy explains — in plain language — what we collect, how your photos are processed, and the choices you have.

By choosing to use Closet AI, you agree to the collection and use of information in line with this policy. The terms used here have the same meaning as in our Terms and Conditions unless otherwise defined below.

    The short version

    • Your photos are only ever captured or uploaded by your own action — Closet AI never opens your camera or photo library on its own.
    • We treat your photos as whole images. We do not create faceprints, facial-geometry maps, or any biometric identifier, and we never use facial recognition to identify you.
    • We do not use your photos to train AI models, and we do not sell your personal information.
    • Try-on images are sent to our AI processing provider only when you tap to generate a try-on, over an encrypted connection, and that provider automatically deletes them within 72 hours.
    • Your photos and saved looks live on your device. Delete them in the app — or delete the app — and they're gone from your device.

    Information We Collect

For a better experience, while using our Service we collect or process the following categories of information.

    Photos and images you provide

The core of Closet AI is the photo of yourself that you capture or upload, the garment images you choose, and the try-on results the app generates for you. These images are collected only through your explicit action. The app does not take photos automatically and does not access your camera or photo library without your direct input.

    Profile and styling preferences

During onboarding you may tell us information such as the gender presentation you'd like try-ons tailored to, along with styling preferences. We use this to render results that fit you better and to personalize what you see in the app.

    Subscription and purchase information

When you start a subscription or buy try-on credits, the purchase itself is processed by Apple through the App Store — we never see or store your full payment card details. To manage your subscription status and entitlements we use RevenueCat, which assigns an app-specific identifier and tells us whether your subscription or credits are active. We receive purchase identifiers, transaction and subscription status, and that app-assigned identifier.

    Device and log data

Whenever you use our Service, and especially in the case of an error in the app, we may collect data and information (through third-party tools) such as your device's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device model and name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when using our Service, the time and date of your use, and other diagnostic statistics. This is used to keep the app stable and to fix problems.

    Usage information

We may collect aggregated, non-identifying information about how features are used so we can understand what works and improve the product.

    How We Use Your Information

    • To provide the try-on service — generating realistic images of you wearing the clothing you select.
    • To manage subscriptions and credits— confirming your entitlements and unlocking features you've paid for.
    • To personalize your experience — using your preferences to tailor results and recommendations.
    • To maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app — diagnosing crashes and understanding usage.
    • To protect against fraud, abuse, and misuse, and to comply with legal obligations.

    How We Handle Your Photos

This is the part that matters most, so we want to be specific.

    On-device processing where possible

Some image work — such as separating a clothing item from its background — is performed entirely on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks. Images processed this way are never transmitted off your device.

    Generating a try-on

To create a try-on, the photo of you together with the chosen garment image is transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our third-party AI processing provider, FASHN AI. The provider generates the composite try-on image and returns it to your device.

Provider retention. Our AI processing provider automatically deletes all uploaded and generated images within 72 hours and retains only anonymized request logs that contain no user-provided images. We do not maintain a server-side database of your photos.

    Where your photos are stored

Your source photos and the looks you save are stored locally on your device. If you delete an image inside the app, or delete the app entirely, those images are removed from your device. Any screenshots you save to your own camera roll are yours to manage.

What we never do with your photos

    • We do not use your photos to train or fine-tune AI models.
    • We do not use your images for facial recognition, identification, or authentication.
    • We do not sell your photos or share them with advertisers or data brokers.

    Biometric Information

Closet AI uses your photo as a whole image to render clothing onto it. We do not extract, measure, map, or store biometric identifiers — such as facial geometry, faceprints, iris or retina scans, or facial-feature vectors — and we do not use facial-recognition technology to identify you or build a profile of you.

Some jurisdictions (for example, Illinois, Texas, and Washington in the United States) define and regulate biometric information broadly. In keeping with the spirit of those laws, we collect your photo only with your consent, use it solely to provide the try-on you request, do not profit from or sell biometric information, and retain images only as described in this policy. If our practices ever change in a way that involves biometric identifiers, we will update this policy and obtain any consent required by applicable law before doing so.

    Service Providers

We work with a small number of trusted third parties to operate Closet AI. These providers have access only to the information needed to perform their tasks on our behalf, and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose. Each maintains its own privacy policy.

    • FASHN AI — AI virtual try-on image processing.
    • RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management.
    • Apple App Store — payment processing and in-app purchases.
    • Diagnostics and analytics providers — crash reporting and aggregated usage analytics.

    Data Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described here. Photos and saved looks remain on your device until you delete them; images sent for try-on processing are deleted by our provider within 72 hours. Subscription and purchase records are retained as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal and accounting requirements. Diagnostic and log data is retained for a limited period.

    How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers listed above, where required by law or to respond to lawful requests, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or other business transfer (in which case we will require the recipient to honor this policy).

    Security

We value your trust in providing us your personal information, so we strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it, including encryption of images in transit. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your information, we will take appropriate steps and provide any notifications required by law.

    Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information: to access it, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict its processing, and to data portability. You can delete your photos and saved looks directly in the app at any time. To make any other request, contact us at hello@emmito.co; we may need to verify your identity before responding.

For users in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland (GDPR)

We rely on the following legal bases: your consent to process the photos you provide; performance of a contract to deliver subscriptions and try-ons; and our legitimate interests in keeping the app secure, stable, and improving. You may withdraw consent at any time and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

    For California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion or correction, and to be free from discrimination for exercising your rights. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

    International Data Transfers

Closet AI is operated from Sri Lanka, and the providers who help us run it may process your information — including images sent for try-on generation — in countries other than the one you live in. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards to protect your information when it is transferred internationally.

    Children's Privacy

Closet AI is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information — including photos — from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please use Closet AI only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
